Personality: Kazuya is a quite man. He keeps his thoughts to himself, and only opens up to a select few of Shinigami. His reactions to situations are very calm and thought out, never letting his emotions get in the way of his decision making, but as he is 'human' he has breaking points. But most of the time he is collective in his emotions, and conducts himself with a cold professionalism in front of his peers. When away and around with people who are closely tied to him, he acts very normal, and loses his coldness. Even though most think of him cold and strictly business type of guy, he is just the opposite. He is very kind and caring, and keeps up traditional chivalry toward female Shinigami. It is only because Kazuya takes his job seriously and personally that he has so much focus he becomes rather oblivious to others feelings. And when it comes to his job, he is the analytical and observant Shinigami, calculating his moves and anticipating his opponents, but he is formidable with the sword nonetheless. When those who he cares about are threatened or harmed, this is mostly the only time Kazuya becomes bashful, lets his emotions could his judgement rather than keeping composure and calmly think of a solution.

History/Background: Kazuya Yudawa died 115 years ago in Rokugo, Japan from a typhoon and tsunami that hit the northern part of Japan in 1896. The holocaust was tremendous, 2000 plus were reported killed and much more injured. But 19 years before that tragic event Kazuya was born in to the Yudawa family, a prosperous and well-off family. Due to this status, Kazuya was introduced to culture in great amounts over time. At the age of 7 Kazuya reached an impressive stature in caligraphy implementing his thoughtfulness, quiet and cautious nature, but also his gentleness, kindness; due to looking and making sure the lines are correct, the stroke order, and the flow which is taught in caligraphy. At the age he was at, Kazuya had grown as an individual than any other 7 year-old child. School life for Kazuya was very mundane, he always felt different than other kids. Once in awhile he would see men wearing the black and white robes of the Shinigami and tell his teacher, but as would anyone who is told something by a 7 year-old they would tell him he is just seeing things; but he knew, he knew the things he saw were real and whatever or whoever they are, they were there. This lead to students ostracizing Kazuya, which had little affect because he already felt different than his peers who can not see the "People" as he used to call them. What he did not know was his ability to see the shinigami, and what made the other students feel uncomfortable around Kazuya was his natural flow of reiatsu and the pressure it created.

By the age of 11 his father Ryutou Yudawa trained Kazuya in the art of Kendo. The chivalry nature of living by the sword and protecting those he are serving was ingrained into him. But living life peacefully and oblivious to harm is one way to live life. There are times when hardship is endured, the status quo is taken away. At the age of 15 Yoko Yudawa, Kazuyas' mother died due to an illness. From that point on Ryutou loss his will to live and the family wealth drastically, and exponentially decreased. It is at this point in his life Kazuya felt the child within himself step aside and walked into a maturing young adult. With the loss of his mother, his love was focused onto his father, taking care of the rapidly weakening man that was once full of slight arrogance and strength that was felt just by his presence. Kazuya learned empathy, and humiliation, not ashamed that his families wealth is deteriorating and now living, a 'commoners' life. After 4 years of hard labor and studying Kazuya paid off when he got accepted into Tokyo University. His father at this point of time had moved back to his hometown and helped out at his brothers farm in return for a house to live under. Still living in Rokugo Kazuya was dead asleep on the night of his impending doom. The earth shook underneath him waking him with great fear as he had never felt the earth moved this way. Of course living in Japan an earthquake is as normal to everyone as is drinking water; but this time, this time it felt different, as if it wanted to not be apart of the status quo. For Kazuya this was his last moment in the living realm as the roof collapsed upon him instantly killing him.

The beginnings of his life in the afterlife is all but a blur to Kazuya. All he knew was that he was found in West Rukongai District 3 in a teashop after playing a game of Shogi (Japanese chess) against a Vice-Captain from one of the Gotei 13. This created the spark of his future. After two long hours of Shogi Kazuya defeated the Vice-Captain who gave a recommendation to allow Kazuya in the Academy. The previous months before his acceptance Kazuya talked to the Captain of the Vice-Captain, the division of the Captain is still unknown to Kazuya, about his reiatsu. Even for the Captain the reiatsu pressure he felt was not normal compared to the average Academy student. The Captain knew Kazuya had potential to succeed, and with training and refining Kazuya's reishi control the Captain knew he would be an outstanding shinigami and if it came to it an incredible Captain. He entered the Academy and almost immediately he gave off an aura that he was not to be taken lightly.

If one would considered being ranked 5th out of his class he was a top student but flawed in the Art of Kidou, but matched all of the top 5 students in tactics, bushido, law and leadership. He himself considered that he was not strong, he knew they are people much stronger than he and did not act haughty or arrogant, but rather acted with a sense of humility and empathy. But with this trait Kazuya set himself to catch the steel eyes of his teachers and what they saw overtime was a capable and potentiating shinigami they ever laid their eyes on. But they did not overlook that he is quite rather young, if he was to be accepted into the ranks of Gotei 13 his peers would have a good decade or three of experience on Kazuya.

The Academy Council had an audience with Kazuya and offered him two options join a division that would seat him higher in rank than current seated members or start off as any academy graduate and work his way up the ranks. And Kazuya chose the ladder to the Councils surprise. He knew he needed the experience to become a better shinigami, and personally he felt if he was to be given a high seat without working for it, it would mean nothing to him, it would not be special. Kazuya then graduated 5th of his graduating class and while most of the top ten students quickly became Vice-Captains or high seated shinigami Kazuya gradually rose in rank but to his Captains and Vice-Captains they knew he was stronger than most and had great potential to be a Vice-Captain. For 266 years Kazuya gained experience as a shinigami in various Divisions gaining knowledge in all fields as a Shinigami. Finally he was to be tested to become 10th Division Captain. The testing was yet to be started but Kazuya feels he is ready and is prepared. From this point on Kazuya's future is still to be determined.
