[Visored] Rūku 68263
RUKU, VISORED

Name:
???, Rūku

Age:
Appears: Seventeen.
Actual: 300+

Ex-Division:
Sixth Division (六番隊, Rokubantai)

Appearance: [x]
At initial glance, it is apparent that Rūku’s appearance is a mixture of both western and Japanese. The foreign influence is seen both in his attire and his facial features, hinting at the possibility of a mixed descent. Because souls age physically at a significantly slower rate than humans, the past four-hundred years have only given him the appearance of a young-adult. Rūku stands at a height of five-foot, six inches. He is light-skinned, a flawless complexion without any scarring or markings. Rūku has a slender build, boasting an above average amount of muscle. He possesses dark-brown hair; the length of it reaches all the way down his back and continues to slightly below his waist. To keep it tidy and prevent it from flailing around, Rūku ties most of the length together with a black band. This keeps his long hair in a neat ponytail, rather than having it messy and disorderly. Another significant feature to note is his ice-blue eyes that appear to constantly impose an uncaring glance to those around him. When this cold-look is relaxed, closer observation reveals a youthful, handsome face that would not have been noticed otherwise.

Rūku on everyday basis is seen adorning a white, ruffle dress shirt. This shirt is without wrinkles or unsightly creases due to his routine cleaning of it. However, the condition of the shirt is subject to change depending on the amount and type of activities he is involved in. The collar is worn around his neck comfortably with a long length of blue lace, the excess being tied together at the front. A black, medium-length cape is worn over his left shoulder, tied diagonally over his torso with black lace and cloth buckle that holds the lace and cape together. The shirt length is tucked into his baggy, dark-blue pants. The material for his pants is soft to the touch, while still being durable and allowing for maximum mobility. For footwear, Rūku wears two steel boots that are slim-fitted against his shins all the way down to his feet. Moving onto his accessories, Rūku has a guard for his forearm made from the same material as his cape-buckle. Another accessory exclusive to his left arm is a black glove worn over his hand. Instead of wearing the traditional sash, he wears around his waist is a two-strap belt that comes with a pouch, knife sheath, and a strap that securely holds his zanpakutō.

Personality:
Rūku is generally a very serious, and private person. He tends to keep to himself as much as he can, having a strong dislike for interacting with people he isn’t acquainted with. However, he realizes when it can’t be avoided and will do as he needs to when the situation calls for it. The values and lessons he grew up with still remain with him to this day, where he believes that maintaining order is vital. That is why he works towards maintaining order amongst the Visored, helping keep the neutral image so that they are not compromised. Rūku is a very observant individual both on and off the battlefield, aware that even his own power has limits to what it can handle. Depending on the importance of the situation, he will disregard these mental limits and push himself to defeat his opponent.

Background/History:
The beginning of Rūku’s story begins with his birth into nobility. Four-hundred years have passed since then, but earlier memories of his life still remain vivid. Before he came to be known by only his first name, Rūku, he was known as Rūku Masanori. The Masanori Family belonged to the Lower Noble Houses, granting them home within the secure walls of Seireitei. They held high reputation for having strict adherence to the law and for the many years spent serving under the four Noble Houses. The expectation of any belonging member was that they were to never break the rules of Soul Society, and doing so would result in severe punishment, even exile. Rūku, regardless of the fact he was to be the next head of the family was no exception.

From the time he could walk and think for himself, Rūku was placed under the care and instruction of one of the family caretakers. An old man whose name Rūku cannot remember, would accompany Rūku in his daily activities and would teach him everything he could so that Rūku could fulfill his role as a noble. Rūku of course, held no interest for boring lectures and constant study of the rules in his earlier years growing up. He grew fond of the old man over time, because of the stories the old man would occasionally tell him because they detailed what lay outside of Seireitei’s massive walls and of the black-robed Shinigami. As he grew older however, strict and numerous lectures from his parents unwillingly changed him into their ideal heir. And earlier than they had expected, Rūku displayed signs of dormant spiritual power and was almost immediately admitted into Shinōreijutsuin. Here he was no different from the next student, meaning that he needed to work twice as hard as everyone else so that he may uphold his family name. The next few years of his life spent devoted to becoming a shinigami.

After graduating from the academy at the top of his class, Rūku was personally recruited to the Sixth Division by the division captain because of his strictness and intolerance for rule-breakers. He was informed he was believed to be ideal-candidate for the division due to his attitude. Here they served to apprehend all law-breaking shinigami and were responsible for internal affairs within the Gotei 13, meaning Rūku fit in perfectly. It was within the following years spent serving in the Sixth division that Rūku became significantly stronger, completed numerous missions successfully, made friends, established himself amongst the shinigami population, and rose to the lieutenant spot. Privileges belonging to this position were that he only answered to his captain within the division. During the times that his captain was hindered by illness, it was expected that Rūku step in and temporarily assume the role until he could return. These periods lasted from days, to weeks depending on if the captain felt good enough to return at the time. It was during one of these periods that Rūku was given a captain-level mission. While the mission was initially presented to the captain of the Sixth division, he could not go because of his illness. Instead, he referred them to Rūku as he believed that he was strong enough. With no hesitation, Rūku set off with two formidable shinigami to complete a mission that would change his life forever.

The mission detailed how a small group of both shinigami and scientists had defected from Soul Society because their ideals would not be accepted. They desired the concept known as "hollowfication", and Rūku was informed they had secretly been experimenting until recent departure from Seireitei. Scouts from the Second division had already determined their location from a recon-mission, and it was up to Rūku to handle the rest. These were after all, lawbreakers, and they were to be brought back dead or alive. At night-fall of the same day, all three arrived at the old house located on Rukongai outskirts which was base of operations for the defectors. However, everything that happened in the next few minutes was a blur to him. Either because of fear or the speed it was happening at caused Rūku's memory of the event to be foggy. The passing of this "blur" left him with his squad members both dead in an effort to protect Rūku, and him alone facing what seemed like three hollowified-shinigami. The battle that would ensue still repeats in his dreams today. He managed to kill all three, but not without suffering heavy injuries. He became enraged at the death of his friends. Before he could step into the house, he suddenly began to vomit a white liquid-like substance. Rather than spilling to the ground, this substance began to cover itself around his face and body. Desperate attempts to fight against it revealed that he could not forcefully remove it. He lost control of his mind at the moment, the last thing visible to him being a group of figures standing around him.

What he learned later on was that the group he had seen were other Visored. These Visored had learned of the hollowfication experiments going on in Seireitei and had come themselves to destroy them. When they had arrived, the only thing they saw were several dead bodies and a potential comrade. While Rūku proved troublesome to render unconscious, they managed to defeat him and bring him back to Earth. Rūku was disgusted at himself for what he had become and contemplated killing himself many times. Though persuasion from the others would remind him he had not willingly changed into so, and that he had no other choice but to live on as what he had become. They taught him how to adapt to their lifestyle, how to control his new powers, and that they were not affiliated with Heuco Mundo or Soul Society. This brings him to the present day, where Rūku decided that he would abandon his old surname and with his new family, he would continue living on.
